After seeing :icontormentinggentleman: 's journal, I thought I'd give my story too.

My first UW experience was in Pokémon: the First Movie. The part where the characters, but mainly Misty, were running out of breath. At first, I found that scene terrifying, the suspense of it.

But when I got the Indigo League series on DVD, when I was about 14, and I saw The Misty Mermaid episode, that's when I realized I was attracted to UW scenes.

It was mostly the part when Misty was sealed inside the clam, and she pulled out a rebreather when her breath was stale. My imagination just ran wild because of that scene. At one point, part of me thought; "what if that rebreather wasn't there?"

In any case, it's something I kept to myself and no-one else.

Until my last months of high school, in 2013. I found DA.
One of the first works I found was this: the-victor-catbox.deviantart.c… and I started searching from there.
Discovering the works of :iconjbwarner86: , :iconson-void: , :iconthe-victor-catbox: , :iconseverflame: :iconthantosedge: (formerly known as Storm-X) :iconrubiks1994: , and the Flash animations of :iconuwfan-tomson: , I finally knew I wasn't alone.

And in January, 2014, I made the choice to join these artists and more in the DA UW Community. Starting with my very first RP with :iconson-void: in this work; son-void.deviantart.com/art/Ve…

And here we are today!

So how did your UW fascination start?

Copying and pasting my explanation from TormentingGentlemen's journal.

It must've been very very very very early childhood that I first found out I had in interest in the ocean - It wasn't a fetish or fantasy at the time, but a cartoon or movie would immediately have my attention (regardless of its quality) if it had an underwater scene, especially if the subject was a girl. Unless it was something like Spongebob or Finding Nemo where the fact that it's underwater is just taken for granted (I always appreciated how Spongebob never went overboard with the water thematic).

It wasn't until 2013/14 that it really kicked into overdrive, with Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games of all things. More specifically, the intro to London 2012. I'd played the game a good few times before, but 2013/14 was around the time I discovered the classic Hand Stuck in Pool Drain video, and for whatever reason I was reminded of a scene from London 2012's intro featuring Amy in a swimming pool, which you can watch for yourself if you want. After revisiting the clip, I swear I had it on loop for what felt like an eternity trying to piece together why I found it so attractive and mesmerizing (I still don't know what it is to this day). Was it how well animated it was? Was it her bubbly smile at the end? Was it the way she clasps her hand over her mouth for a single frame as if trying to hold back her air? Maybe it was just the juxtaposition of seeing Amy swimming, something you never really see elsewhere (not counting the Sonic Boom episode).

Then, the question hit. The question that replaced all the others and solidified my interests. "What if there was a pool cover preventing her for resurfacing?"

Curiosity got the best of me, and I had to find out if there were others who had these kinds of thoughts or if I was just really fucked up. One dA image search later and I found :iconuwfan-tomson:'s flash-animation of Peach, and as the "More" section revealed, I wasn't the only one into it.
